| Bio: | Who am I? Good question. My name is Roger. I'm 37 years old, and currently employed with the United States Postal Service (affectionately referred to by some as 'snail mail') as a mail handler. I 'handle' mail that comes in to the plant - loading and unloading trucks that come in to the dock during the day. I've been with them for 11 years, and plan on retiring in another 20. By then, I'll only be 54 and with a million or so in the bank - and able, God willing, to do whatever I want to do with the rest of my life. What do I want to do when I retire? First item on the list - a year long, round the world cruise. For someone with ingrained wanderlust, this would be a dream come true. What kind of person am I? I've never liked answering this question. To me, labels are for CDs and soup cans - not people. I'm a conservative Christian - and Christian teaching has shaped my worldview for the better part of 20 years on a wide range of issues. I know my viewpoint isn't always popular with people, and that's fine. Disagreements are not only part of democracy, but part of life as well. You don't like something I say? That's cool - but it doesn't mean I'm going to hold my tongue. If I had to pick a theme song for my life, it would have to be "I Was Born a Traveling Man". Being a former military brat (my father was in the US Army for 28 years), I've developed a rather intense wanderlust that manifests itself from time to time. I take a week long vacation in September, and it's evolved a tradition all its own. I make a point of visiting a place that I've never been before. I've stood on the Blue Ridge Parkway of North Carolina, had lunch in a colonial Virginian restaurant, explored the gardens of a Catholic monastery in South Carolina. My musical tastes tend to vary. Primarily, I'm a huge fan of 80s pop - George Michael or Boy George, it's all good. I grew up as a teen in the 80s, and remember graduating from vinyl albums to compact discs. I even have a piece of 80s nostalgia on a shelf in my bedroom - a Rubik's Cube (without the stickers pulled off, thank you very much). Aside from that, there are really only three brands of music that I absolutely REFUSE to listen to under any circumstances - rap, alternative and metal. My personal collection contains everything from Lonestar and Kenny Rogers to Turkish instrumentals and 1930s jazz. Eclectic is the name of the game. | |||||||||
